Flat-sanded comb and draw reed plate (diatonics) for improved airtightness
Flat-sanded, modified comb and backplate (chromatic models)
Ultimate reed gapping tailored for better response
Cover plates checked for leaks and proper alignment
For chromatics: the slide mechanism is carefully inspected and heavily modified for smoother and faster action
Our most popular custom setup—refined, powerful, and built for serious players.
The Master Reed Work delivers outstanding performance, with whisper-smooth bends, wide dynamic range (from super soft to powerfully loud), and clean overblows and overdraws across the full range of the instrument.
Don’t be intimidated by the word “overblow”—for years, it’s been a myth that overblow-optimized harmonicas require gentle playing. That’s not the case here. Our harmonicas are built to handle both hard and soft playing while fully supporting advanced techniques.

We developed a unique technique that prolongs reed life and tuning stability. It’s something we’ve used on all our custom harmonicas for over a decade, and it has proven to work extremely well. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference—and you won’t find it anywhere else. And while we’re on the subject of unique features, each reed slot is heavily embossed using our exclusive technique, allowing us to precisely emboss the full length of the slot.
Whether you’re playing expressive blues, overbend-rich jazz, or high-energy folk music, Master Reed Work is a top-tier choice trusted by dedicated musicians.

Here are some of the technical specifications for the Master reed work.
Flat sanded reed plate
On diatonic harmonicas the draw reed plate is carefully flat-sanded to improve airtightness
Cover plates
Cover plates are checked for leaks and modified for proper alignment
Slide mechanism
On chromatic harmonicas, we modify the slide mechanism for smoother action and improved airtightness
Comb Modification
Chromatic combs are modified for a smoother, more airtight slide action, and both chromatic and diatonic combs are flat-sanded for maximum airtightness.
Embossing
Each reed slot is heavily embossed using our unique
technique that allows us to emboss the full reed slot length with exceptional precision.
Windsavers
Each windsaver is carefully checked and adjusted for better performance
Prolonged reed life
We’ve developed a unique and secret technique—used on all our harmonicas—that extends reed life and significantly improves tuning stability over time
Serial Number
Each harmonica is fitted with a unique serial number to identify its model and level of reed work
Reed curvature
The ultimate reed curvature is set up for perfect responsiveness and control
Tuning
We apply greater care and precision in tuning compared to our Advanced Reed Work
Polished reeds
Reeds are polished to remove production marks, extending lifespan, resisting dirt buildup, and improving response through better aerodynamics.
Reeds
All reeds are carefully re-profiled for smoother, more dynamic playability, giving you consistent response across the entire instrument.
Most of our custom diatonic harmonicasare tuned to 442 Hzusing a compromised temperament, which offers a balanced sound suitable for both solo playing and ensemble work. This tuning provides smooth chords without sacrificing melodic accuracy—something most players find works perfectly for their needs.
If you have a specific tuning preference or temperament in mind, I’m happy to customize it to your request.
Chromatic harmonicas and harmonicas designed for folk music are typically tuned to Equal Temperament for better compatibility in ensemble settings and key modulation.
